Artist Statement

My practice uses the vessel as a site of philosophical inquiry. Working in wheel-thrown porcelain and stoneware from my studio in Denver, I make forms that hold ideas as much as they hold space. The work begins with a text, a thinker, a question that clay seems better equipped to answer than language alone. What emerges are objects that sit at the edge of the legible, asking something of the person who encounters them.
