Handmade in Colorado

Colorado’s wide-open spaces and shifting seasons create an easy rhythm for making. With the mountains on the horizon and Denver’s creative energy close by, it’s a place that offers both inspiration and focus - a balance of stillness and movement that shapes my work with clay.

Firing methods

I work with a variety of firing techniques. For precision, I rely on standard mid-fire, but when I want to embrace the unpredictable nature of clay and fire, I turn to ancient methods. My current favorite techniques are saggar and raku firing, each offering its unique textures and effects.

Online Solo Exhibition: Vessels Of Becoming

Hillit Wahlberg’s ceramic practice emerged from a prolonged period of emotional labor within corporate structures, where she functioned as what might be termed an affective receptacle, absorbing and managing the emotional demands of others within a toxic institutional environment. In search of a distraction, she turned to the pottery wheel. This online-exclusive is on view on Artsy starting 1/17/26.
